STARTS TUESDAY 7th OCTOBER
6 weekly livestream classes & 6 class recordings.
From the comfort of your own living room! Learn and fall in love with ballet in Susan & Elizabeth’s livestream classes.
If you are an older adult, have never done ballet before, or did ballet a long time ago and would like to start from the absolute beginning, this is the class for you.
We are excited to offer you a gentle, engaging, and absolutely beginner-friendly livestream virtual class where we encourage you to explore the beautiful world of ballet at a comfortable pace. We guide you through the basic elements of ballet which is easy on the body and uplifting for the spirit. The class leads you through a series of basic ballet positions, steps, and gentle stretches, all aimed at enhancing STRENGTH, BALANCE, MOBILITY, improving posture, and boosting mental well-being.
In the final 10 minutes of the class, we work on a short choreographed piece inspired by George Balanchine’s ballet, SERENADE with music by Tchaikovsky’s SERENADE FOR STRINGS IN C. We continue working on this dance throughout the workshop; refining, learning and enjoying dancing.
This is not just a dance class; it’s a space of enjoyment, fun and connection of the MIND, BODY and SOUL in a symphony of movement. Come and join us.

Frequently AskedQuestionsget all the answers
What is the format of the class?
We begin with a warm up to stretch and move the body. Following that, we work through a series of beginners barre exercises. Susan and Elizabeth demonstrate each exercise and then we all do it together with music. After the barre exercises, we move to the center where we do a Port de Bras (arm exercise) and practice a short ‘Curtsy Dance’ that we do at the very end of class.
How do I access the Live Class?
Book and pay for the class above. 8 hours prior to class, you will receive, via email, a unique link to the Zoom platform where the class is streamed. We then send out a reminder email with the link 2 hours before class begins. If you book closer to the time of the class, we send you the link within 10 minutes of booking. You can book class up to 1 minute before class commences. When you are ready to join the class, click on the link and you will enter the class via the Zoom video and audio link.
What is Zoom?
Zoom is a video conferencing application that will allow the streaming of our class live via video link to your device. It is free software that you can download onto your computer, tablet or mobile. It is very easy and quick to download. You can watch a step by step guide on how to install Zoom onto your device HERE. And you can download the Zoom application HERE
What should I wear?
Anything that is comfortable and provides ease of movement.
I don’t have ballet shoes, what should I put on my feet?
It depends on your floor. Socks, sticky socks or bare feet. We like socks on carpet, and sticky socks or bare feet on wood or tiled floor. TIP: slightly wet the bottom of your socks or ballet shoes for a little bit more grip.
I don’t have a barre.
Neither do we. A good barre substitute is the back of a chair, an ironing board, a high table, banister, counter top or even a wall.
I can't attend the livestream, but would like the recording.
No problem. You receive the recording regardless of attendance. Many of our dancers purchase the workshop just for the recording as they are unable to attend the livestream class.
I would like to try the class, but I don’t want to be seen on video.
Not a problem – there is an option on Zoom to turn off your camera, so you can see us, but no-one can see you.
Can I just watch the class, and perhaps not dance if I don’t feel up to it?
Yes! You are welcome to tune in and observe.
Do I have to do the whole class?
If you are up for a little dancing but not too much – great! Take breaks. Sit out an exercise or two. Do what works for you.
This is your class, and it is about you enjoying your time with us. We’d just love for you to join us in whatever capacity.
Come and dance with us LIVE.
Susan & Elizabeth
